W123 clock repair

I know there are a ton of posts about W123 clock repair but I can't find much information about the bigger style clocks:

Recently my '84's clock has been working albeit intermittently. From what I've seen on all of the forums usually they just stop working completely until the capacitor is replaced on the board.

However, it seems that whenever I leave my car in the sun, and then I get in it and drive it, the clock works but once I park it in my garage overnight it eventually just stops. It seems to be heat related. Any ideas what the issue could be, maybe it is just capacitor related after all.
