W115 Downpipe Dilemma: Help needed

Greetings,

I recently ordered a downpipe to replace the rusty factory installed unit on my '76 240D. I was ecstatic when I found that Werner Karasch in Germany had what I believed was the correct part (#1154900519 - pictured on the right). As you can see in the image below, it does not match what came off the car (left).

Manifold is also factory installed, which means either I have the incorrect part number or that I was sent the incorrect part. Would be really grateful for help in locating the correct part as the car is currently stuck in limbo.

Thanks in advance!

115-490-05-19 is for 240D W115 chassis up to 200000.
115-490-13-19 is for 240D W115 chassis 200001 onward.

1976 was the last year of production for the W115 240D. so you probably need the second version.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for this. I now have both pipes in my possession and neither of them fit. Picture comparison of the 2nd version (on the left of the shorter pipe) which I ordered after my initial post below.

The plot thickens...

Are either of these P/Ns indicated as correct for RH drive vehicles?
RHD exhaust manifolds/downpipes generally differ from LHD.

I believe 1319 is meant for RHD cars. We were very surprised to see that it didn’t fit!

The folks at Werner Karasch have done some digging and found that the existing old pipe actually belongs to a W123. That would mean that the manifold has been swapped to a W123 manifold, which is nearly identical to the W115 unit except for the downpipe mounting pipe.

Can anyone with a W123 downpipe confirm please?

Thanks!

Picture of the manifold that’s caused the headache!
