123 ignition switch shutoff valve success
Some time ago my ignition switch shutoff valve failed. I detached the line from it to the injection pump and routed a length of vacume hose to a mighty vac lying in the passenger seat footwell and I just shut it off manually. This weekend I recieved a new valve from the Pellican and set about replacing it.
It seemed like an impossible task at first and I have to admit I was about to give up and consider pulling the instrument cluster to gain access to the top screw but I finally managed after about an hour or back breaking swearing and cursing - lying on my back on the floor under the dash - to get it out. I had to jury rig a hair pin to be able to fit in the space available as even a really short stubby screwdriver wouldnt get in there. Interestingly the install of the new part was way easier than removal of the old. I removed the driver seat which made accessing the item a lot easier. I have to do some work on the seat so it seemed like a good time. Point of this is that despite what seems like an impossible task is in fact do-able with perseverance. And it's really nice to be able to switch off the engine just with the key again. - Peter.

Ya it is really cramped in there. Hopefully it will be another 30+ years before it needs replacement.
