Read the diagnostic trouble codes first.
Look at fuse chart to verify fuses good. Those should point you in the right direction

Most likelihood is the switch.

There is a message about the passenger Head rest... which ironically works as it should? I will look into fuses... Did some research... some say there is a way to re-synchronize the seat settings??? on some MB models?> |

Generic OBD2 scanner is useless for this. Get an MB specific scan tool that can read codes from the seat computer.

CEL is for engine problems. To synchronize the seat everything must be in working order. The seat controller is under the seat and is a candidate for failures but get a mb scanner and read those codes.

This is not like the older models. The seat switch in the door has no direct connection to the seat motors.
When you move the seat switch, you place a message on the CAN-B bus that you would like to move the seat. The seat controller listens for the seat move commands. If it decides it is safe to move the seat (I.e. the seat is not already at the travel limit, is the headrest/backrest angle such that the headrest is not going to hit the roof) then the seat controller commands the seat to move. If you can get access to Xentry then you can go into the door controller actual values and see if it is sending the commands to the seat controller. Also you can go into the seat controller actuations and command the seat to move. This will tell you where the problem is.

So ... most likely- NOT seat motor? but fuse/or proximity sensor/ or switch? which communicates with Comp |
