Tested mounts today. Watched engine while wife applied brakes and throttle in Fwd and Rev. It rocks quite a bit both ways But have nothing to compare with.

Engine off, fan sits close to center of shroud. Can't see how upper oil cooler hose could get near PS belt as some have warned. Maybe they meant the AC belt (which I no longer have)

Your motor mounts are toast. Time to replace them. You might want to look at the transmission mount also.

x3.
The dead giveaway (among other things) is the v shaped separation in the rubber.

I’m they look cracked and potentially shifted to the side. Not good. Also looks like the heat shields are missing.

Get new lemfoerder mounts. Show a pic of a new vs old side by side when they come...

Isn't the heat shield just on the turbo side? There is one there. Pic is of the driver's side.

New mounts are ordered. Not Lemfoerder. These are from Rein Automotive (Same company as CRP/Contitech) It is hard to keep track these days , most come from China anyway. I have used Rein for other stuff without any problems.

I will see if my local shop can install these and the cooler lines at same time. I am opting out of heavy lifting jobs

Great for those who can afford it. Does Mercedes make their own rubber and mould the mounts? Or perhaps they could have an OEM supplier for those mounts? And over the years , not always the same one. Sometimes the only difference (other than the price) is the star.

By the way, don't believe everyone you watch on Youtube

I don't. But I have dealer mounts on my 12 year old W124, 6 year old W123, both going strong. The 2 year old URO mounts I took off, disintegrated in my hands.

Your car, so you get to decide. Best of luck!

Which of your cars had our engine mount, the W123 or W124? Do you still have them by any chance? Guessing you probably don't, but we'll still have our engineers investigate ASAP.

Post Motor Mount Life

yes, some of the cheaper ones don't last long but far more often I see a eaky and oil soaked engine when I hear of motor mount failures .

Before replacing the shocks I'd replace the bushings used to mount them .

I too try to buy M-B factory parts but not always affordable .

The host here has a connection with a local M-B dealer that sells very cheaply....

The cheapo mounts fail pretty fast on the OM617, the MB mounts will be typically produced to a higher standard.

If I remember right when the motor mounts go, the engine drops enough that the steel oil line begins to rub and eventually wears a hole in it.
