Won’t start when hot

2005,e320 CDI.
Starts and runs fine when cold but after a drive won’t start without sitting for 15 minutes.
Ran out of fuel a month ago and (gas gauge stoped working) wonder if that could be connected.
Code is 930 e. DTC memory can’t be ensured.

Crank position sensor? A not uncommon source of that type of complaint. If external and accessable. I would get the car to the point of not starting. Spray it with cold spray and see if it will then start.

Update
Drive it like did yesterday fast with corners. Got it good and hot. Restarted fine. Let it sit for half an hour drove it 2 miles home. Turned it off and it wouldn’t Restart. Let it sit fro 15 min. Started. ???
