W124 Injector Nailing

On my w124 OM602, injector #2 nails after the car runs for a few minutes after a cold engine start.

Will a diesel purge help it? If not, I will buy injectors to use as cores or to have rebuilt.

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Or is low on compression? A cold start the GPs heat stays on for the glow cycle then 90 seconds or so for the after glow to reduce smoking. So after about 2 minutes you get nailing maybe move that injector to another cylinder and see if the nailing follows or not!

The nailing follows. When I loosen the fuel line on top of the injector, fuel spurts out, and no more nailing. Almost like a sticking pintle.

Interesting. I've got a whole setup here for rebuild and am in the process now, actually finishing up.
Pop testing & balancing on Monday. I wonder how my car will run.

As greazzer mentioned in the other thread, new nozzles can be stuck out of the box and I can confirm that, I had to lube them. Also, my old core had such a bad set of nozzles that I couldn't remove the pintle with pliers after 1 hour in ultrasonic xylene bath. Left them overnight. I've never seen so much carbon buildup inside.

I will be doing a Diesel Purge this weekend. If it does not work, then I will replace the injector.

I did the Diesel Purge. Still nailing, but not as bad. No smoking, and it runs like a scalded dog.

Ordered a replacement injector while I look for 5 more to use for rebuilding.
