1984 300D front seats

Anyone know if the front seats from a 1984 500SL will fit in a 1984 300D? My front seats are junk, I know you can swap front seats if you have a good passenger seat but my driver seat and armrest is really bad. I have located a pair of 500sl seats (will have to dye them as my interior is dark red). What y’all s?

I think you will be able to make that work. I did something like that once. IIRC, you will probably need to take the brackets and the assembly attached to the bottom of the seat off the original seat to use it on the new seat. I don't think you will need to do any drilling to make bolts fit. No promises.

Have you looked at splicing the springs back together and buying new padding and covers?
There are clips that go around 2 thicknesses of spring. You essentially bridge the broken part with a piece scavenged from another seat.

I've had various seats from other cars installed in my driver MBZ or otherwise and they have sometimes been acceptable but usually are a compromise. Repairing to new is frequently more expensive but ultimately more satisfying.

you can also simply cut 1-1.5" section from an old injector hard line, drill the hole a little bigger and put the broken spring into either end. Use JB weld as glue... https://dieselgiant.com/repairseatspring.htm

That was one attempt. I didn't have great long term results and went to the clips. Jury is still out but some upholstery shops at YouTube University suggest them. If it's taught in school, it must work - right??

Based on how the 123 coupe dealt with the 2" lower roof line I suspect that you might need to put some shims under the seat to get you up high enough to see over the wheel.

Wait, you're saying 123 seats exist that don't have a tall person sitting up in the air like they're driving a semi?
