W211 e320 cdi blinking A/C light

2005 e320 cdi apparently low in refrigerant or has a leak, i pulled it from storage after 1.5 yeara of non driving, drove for 2 hours w ac then 2 days later ac light blinking and nothing but hot air, problem is i cant add refrigerant because while ac light blinks clutch wont engage, so i cant add refrigerant.

The AC compressor has no clutch. You can add refrigerant at any time.

Pay attention to what kind of can adapter you have. They changed the design recently for a self-sealing can. Old can taps that puncture the top will not work with the new cans.

May be the low pressure valve is not opening? Press the schroeder valve and see any r134 comes out. Or put a charging valve on it and open the valve. The can is of much higher pressure than the system. The refrigerant should go in whether the compressor is running or not.

You need a hose with a pressure gauge and a scan tool that can tell you what's going on with your AC. Right now you're trying to play ball in the dark.
