Mercedes Dealer REMANUFACTURED Parts ?
This could go in any MB forum but I have a diesel so here it is.
I noticed on a parts department receipt from a Mercedes dealer the notation that: "12 DIGIT MB NUMBERS ENDING IN 60, 80, 88, 83, 87, 89 ARE REMANUFACTURED" That's news to me but then I don't get out much beyond W123's. Has anyone bought reman parts directly from Mercedes? |

Probably. If bought from a dealer or a reputable supplier I would not worry about it.

The water pumps for the 617 from MB are rebuilt and are better in quality than most new aftermarket water pumps, and are competitively priced.

In the 305K miles I owned my '83 300SD, I replaced the water pump 2X. Both times I traded in the old water pump for core value credit, against the re-manufactured water pump from my Mercedes dealer's parts. They were like $16.00 as I recall. Worked fine.

Yep even alternators and ac compressors are reman over the parts counter. For sure on 2008s as I have had to do this to both kids cars.
These are not auto parts store specials, they look brand new when they come out of the box and are remanufactured by the vendor not some chop shop like the chain stores use. The alternators I installed on both 2008s were Valeo with Valeo France stickers on them. And yeah the cost isn't too far out of line with the auto parts store considering the quality difference.
