1982 300CD US Emergency brake pad replacement
I didn't know that these ever needed to be replaced. Mine was apparently falling apart inside. I had a tire place look at and they took the pads out on one side so the pieces didn't get caught and bind up. Are these things easy to replace? Are there any write ups on it?

]They are basically the same as replacing old school brake shoes except they are smaller and the hub/flange is in the way so you have to work around it. When trying to remove the hold down springs work through a lug bolt hole with a moderately thin long straight blade screwdriver into the center of the spring. Same goes for the adjuster star wheel, lever it through a lug bolt hole. Don't interchange the star adjuster wheels side to side.
Adjustment is done at each wheel, crank up the star adjuster until you cannot turn the disc then backoff the star wheel three full teeth. WEAR AN APPROPRIATE MASK, don't breath the dust. Good luck!!!

Don't forget to remove, clean and lubricate the start adjusters ! .
I use long fiber lithium grease , I'm sure whatever you have handy will suffice .
