1999 Benz E300 runs rough and smokes after replacing fuel lines

I had all fuel lines and filter replaced on my engine and glow plugs snice the intake was off, now it starts, idles fine but around 1200 RPM the engine starts shaking, smokes like crazy and it does not get into the second gear.
Help please.
