I saved a couple of those Lucas fuel additive bottles, the tall skinny ones, to use as a sort of a measuring device and convenient thing to keep in the trunk. I fill them in my shop. Instructions call for one fluid ounce for 5 gallons, those Lucas bottles hold 5 ounces. My SDL holds 23 and some gallons, I often put the whole thing in on a fill up. I could estimate four ounces, might be better. The stuff costs about eight cents an ounce, not too much to add to the price per gallon.
It's what I use too. I used to buy the expensive stuff, and I tried a lot of different brands, it felt the same. This stuff is cheap and it works.

No not at all being snarky, just wanted to be sure it was in the fact what you were using. I half expected you may not reply back even, so just wanted to confirm the product you recommend. No harm, no offence, I see your POV now too. Thanks

I really didn’t think you were being snarky, I thought maybe you had heard something about it.

I was going to Walmart for it, but I think most places have it for about the same price now, just under 10 bucks.

I usually do my additive shopping at those big truck stops up by the highway. Lately I’ve been using this cetane boost stuff by motorkote. I swear it makes em smoke a little less at WOT which is the primary reason I use it.

Thumbs up Diesel additives

My first 300D was a 1979 W123 turbo. I put 497K on it and sold it to a doctor. Everything worked/even the a/c. After using it a couple of months I started using Red Line 85. Right away I noticed that on a certain very long fairly steep hill that was on my way to work I was now able to steadily increase speed up to 65 mph. Formerly could just hold it at 45 mph. Also less smoke. Product is supposed to increase cetane level up to 5%, and remove water. On my second 300D ( '83 turbo ) I put on 478 K and sold it to my yard maintenance guy for $1,700 and it is still running. I made a very good living in outside sales of Kubota and Toro machines. I gave a case of Red Line 85 to every customer and instructions on how to use it I was in diesel machine sales from '66 to 2011. The key to success w/ my autos is regular maintenance regularly, and no slacking . Put #85 at every fill. Do not leave fuel tank half empty for long periods. ( actually my first diesel was a '79 Chevy Silverado , but that is a dark tale.) DD
