Where to Find Part # on W123 Cylinder Head?
Does anyone know where to find the part number on a W123 cylinder head? From what I understand, this number on the front of the head (see picture), is not the part number but a number to indicate when it was manufactured. The number should be a 617_ _ _ _ _ _ _ number. Not sure where it's located on the cylinder head. Thanks.

jb:
1) W123 is a chassis designation, not an engine designation. Hence, there is no such thing as a "W123 Cylinder Head". 2) Over the years the W123 was produced with eight different basic engine designations, and many variations of those basic designations. 3) Your inquiry seems to be for a part # for a specific variation of OM617 (engine) cylinder head. The number in the pic is a casting number. The cylinder head does not bear a part #. |

Look near the rear of the injection pump and before the oil filter. It'll be just beneath the heater core coolant line.
You might have to use some brake cleaner to see the numbers. As an example: 617 952 12 013 703 The important bits are 617 (5 cyl diesel) 952 (turbo W123 chassis). The rest really isn't relevant. |
