I was shocked to see that the gasket between the throttle housing and intake manifold for my '83 240D is $77 from the dealer, that seems out of proportion to me even for parts from the dealer. Could I possibly have the wrong part number (101 in the diagram below)? The number I am using is:

Gasket, Intke Mnfld, Asbsts - Mercedes-Benz (616-141-00-80)


Is this something different than I think it is? Or does it include more than the gasket? Does anyone know what Asbsts stands for? The first thing that comes to mind for me is asbestos. Could that be the reason for the high price?

Given it is an air intake gasket (rather than a wet fluid connection), would I be safe to make my own gasket?
