What happened to my harmonic balancer?
![]() Like it was scratched or damaged. There is no vibration, engine runs beautifully. I don’t think it needs to be replaced. Still it’s curious that it was scratched like that.

Something was touching it, the surface shouldn't be metallic colored like that, it should be black and the numbers should be whole.

Maybe something got caught in the arrow and it wore down the numbers over time. ??

Obviously the numbers should be whole. Primary ask was for those with experience as to what they may have seen and what could have happened. Something must have been jammed in there or something in order to have such a scrape. Not sure if a failed belt could do it or what?
