1984 300D Turbo Diesel; NAPA brand brake booster.

As most of us are aware, the original Girling brake boosters are difficult to find. Has anyone tried the NAPA brand brake boosters and if so what was your experience?

Also, is anyone aware of a rebuild kit for the Girling brake boosters?

I don't know the answer to your question but another option is to ask Karp's Brakes in CA about rebuilding a used Girling.

Good luck!!!

If it is rebuilt, often the Napa units are likely reman'd by Cardone. Their Master cylinders, calipers etc are all cardone rebuilt as well. Cardone is generally hit or miss but is good with warantees if something does not work.

source: worked for napa for a few years. I never had a booster come back, but we also didnt sell a ton.

I think uncle Ken on youtube has a video about rebuilding the brake booster with a new diaphragm...edit: no not Ken but other toober vids. The rub is finding the rubber kits.

Other than that, NAPA is a good parts shop.

I worked briefly for a school district and NAPA suppled all of their parts. And NAPA supplies other many other shops.

It used to be their rebuilt stuff was better compared to say Autozone brand (I believe it is called duralast) or other similar places. But that was in the past.

I got a booster from Oreilleys and it has worked fine. Not much technology here to worry about

Post Rebuilt By Cardone

Truly, NAPS once was the gold standard, those days are long gone .

I bought a Cardone rebuilt master cylinder for a 1979, it came with a mangled thread fitting for the pipes, I called (maybe E-Mailed) and got another undamaged one very quickly so I'd think Cardone is worth a try .

CARDONE 532650 Remanufactured; Does Not Include Master Cylinder

Thanks for the link. $110 is a great price for a rebuilt booster. For my 1960's classic Chrysler cars, a rebuilt booster is ~$350 and have to get from a specialist like Booster Dewey. Instead, I used one from a 1990's Intrepid in my 1965 Dart which fit (w/ little filing of bracket holes).
