Unhappy White Tranny Fluid

I just went out to do my monthly start up and let him warm and when I pulled the tranny dipstick the fluid is almost white does this mean what I think it does ?
Car is a 85sd Cali car has been sitting all winter up here in Iowa and I usually start going over it as soon as it warms up to get ready for summer run. I drive my other 85sd Federal during winter months since it doesn’t have AC completely done yet.
Help !!

I go with coolant. The transmission cooler is at the bottom of the radiator. If it cracks water can mix with the transmission fluid.

Drain out the transmission fluid and take a better look.

I agree with coolant in the oil.

Good luck!

Nothing to lose here so drain it out , fix the water ingress / radiator etc .
Go to your local gearbox specialist and ask him for around five gallons of atf.. used atf and then filter it well and use it to flush system out four or five times before putting clean new correct spec fluid in.
My father had a large Volvo estate , big petrol v6 and same thing happened to that and we just flushed it twice and replaced with new fluid and it was ok .
We reckon he had been driving and put over 3k on it before it was found out.
He used it for work and drove 40 mile each way every day.

Someone filled it with Bud Light, sorry...

I like the suggestion of Murkybenz, flushing out the trans with new fluid will be expensive.

Oh, NO ~

Agreed ;

Flush and fill it a few times, me I'd remove the pan and replace the filter and drain the torque converter before trying more ATF as it takes very little water to damaged the friction plates .

Keep us posted please .

If the water is getting in from the radiator, he has to get a new radiator which is a large purchase if the transmission is shot, or he can install an air-cooled transmission cooler.

It is sad to have to pay the expense for an exterior cooler, but I think he could need that in order to drive it enough to do a decent flush.

Yes that’s the plan, i have a second post where I explain what I intend to do. I do have available a second radiator. I’ve purchased 3 filters and 6 gal of ATF Walmart has good price on Valvoline $17.00 gallon.

Sorry for split post if an Administrator could combine it would be very much appreciated
