How can I estimate the worth of my running 1980 300TD?

First post! I have had a 1980 300TD for a number of years, and I have loved learning how to work on her and enjoy a drive in her since there. She was my commuter for a year and a half 2020-2021.

I now need to part with her, sadly, since I don’t have room in my new home for her, so I need to sell her, but I have no idea how to estimate her worth.

She runs well, only has 134k miles, and even the automatic windows operate! The interior, however, does have some dry rot that has accumulated to a degree.

Any tips on how to know how much to ask for her?

All advice is welcome.

The price of your 1980 300TD will depend largely on its condition, the demand in your area, and how you choose to sell it. If it is well maintained and in drivable condition with relatively low mileage, you can reasonably expect to get between $5,000 and $8,000. However, if the interior has many defects or the body has issues, this could lower the value slightly.

To be completely honest? On this forum that's not a virtue, merely a detail that anyone here would have addressed and repaired himself.

Kind of a tough crowd here at peachparts.

Obviously there are an obscene number of variables in such a question, some more potent than others e.g. climate of wherever you live (rust), engine compression... I've seen interiors referred to as "somewhat tired" on this very forum that IRL look like they'd been used to smuggle barn animals during a dust storm.

The truth is, it's worth whatever you can get for it. Estimates here will likely be on the low side. But again, tough crowd.

Wow prices are regional and from what I have read not a lot of persons are interested in buying them.

True value is determined at the point of sale. Folks who have things think they are priceless, those who want to buy things think they are worthless so the true market value is determined only when those two meet in the middle somewhere.

Since your car is pretty rare I'd say the middle will be much closer to priceless that worthless. The demand is high too.

Value depends on how and where you sell/buy it. My buddy was looking for a nice low miles W140 500SEL, in Los Angeles it would be 10K at least. While visiting the inlaws in North Carolina he found a very nice one for only $3500.

In my part of of Los Angeles W123 are still popular with gen X and millennials and fetching good money.

Heretofore "B-to-B" has usually been taken to mean "business-to-business".
From the above posts we can now see that the meaning has changed to "Bot-to-Bot"!
Both of the posts read as though generated by Artificial Stupidity.

Firstly...

What to you is a 300TD?

Without pictures it doesnt exist, so... $0

1980 300TD and RARE dont exactly belong in the same sentance.

134K is MEANINGLESS without unbroken documantation.
The odometer in this car barely needs tools to alter.

And the VAST majority of them quit working decdes ago...
