Decent diagnostic/service scan tool?
I am wondering if there are any decent diagnostic/service scan tools available that would be useful for a 2006 E320 CDI. Mercedes Star is definitely not feasible because I just have one benz. Has anyone here had a positive experience with any of the aftermarket tools? I was looking at the Autel MD808PRO and the MX808. I'm not sure how much the subscription costs after the first year. The basic expectations I have for a diagnostic tool is to read and clear codes, and to do things like deactivate the SBC to change brake pads. Currently my check engine light and glow plug light are on. An indy mechanic says its because I either have a bad glow plug module or a bad glow plug or both. I would love to have a tool that I could use to try and diagnose exactly what is going on with my glow plugs. Even if there isn't a decent affordable tool capable of diagnosing my glow plugs I would still like at the very least to have something that I can plug in and make sure no new errors have presented, because when my check engine light is on I worry that some new problem could arise without alerting me because the light is already on. Basically I would love to have something that works for some fairly common problems without having a huge annual subscription fee. One other concern I have is the possibility of corrupting/crashing the ECM or some other computer in the car because I used a cheap aftermarket tool. I don't know if thats even possible but it would be my luck. Let me know what you guy think. Thanks
