Does dynomat work better than oem

I'm ready to tear into my interior.
Anyone replaced their insulation with dynomat?
Let me know
Lower sound =more luxury
Lower heat = more efficient ac and better mpg

This isn't from personal experience, my guess is that a well done installation of modern sound deadening material would make a dramatic improvement in a W123 240D because the old technology OEM material probably aged out over 20 years ago. Use the best and thickest you can afford on the firewall and transmission tunnel to combat the noise produced by the high revving four cylinder diesel.

Had a '78 240D manual, it was an awesome car.

Please post your results.

I used the Dynamat and it helps, but is not a cure all.
Here is a thread I bookmarked about soundproofing.
There's lots of links in that thread to check out.

After removing all that original insulating gunk to facilitate rust repairs, I replaced it with Peel & Seal aluminum adhesive roofing. Don't know about noise reduction, but it did make a neat looking floor and firewall under the carpets. A lot cheaper than Dynomat! Available at big box stores.
