Tag light housing question.
I'm trying to remodel my 85 w126.
I've hit a roadblock here with the tag light housing. *It has to be removed to paint this car body. I cannot discern the location of the snap lock to release that housing. I have all the other instructions completed, all the nuts on the light housing and the lock mechanism. Help?

Can someone please provide some idea of where that snap lock is located and what it looks like?

What does it look like on the outside? Like, how do you change the bulb? I do not have a w126, never did.

Wondering - could the snap lock be a "flap" that is molded into the housing? Something that you pop up to do a release?

If it is I can't find it. I've had the tag light housing pulled out and tilted far enough to look at the inside but can't see any type of panel which might be considered a flap.

BTW, the housing hangs onto the trunk lid release button and reacts to moving away from the body as if it has a spring. I imagine that's a function of the spring which pushes the button back into its resting position.
