1st Gear 1979 300SD
My 1979 300SD starts in 2nd gear from stop. Isn't it supposed to start in 1st? If I press the accelerator quickly, the gearbox will go into the lower gear for acceleration. All the shifts are perfect. I only notice two shifts from stop (instead of 3 on my 1984 300SD)!
I heard there is a shift module behind the passenger kick panel that allows the car to start in 1st. Any guidance is appreciated! RG |

2nd gear start is very common in Benz's of that era but, I don't know specifically for that year/model. When stopped move the shifter to low and then back to drive to see if that causes a first gear start.
