PSA: BlueDEF Platinum customer fraud
Rather than buy from the dealer, I typically use the BlueDEF Platinum in the cardboard cube container, from any local auto parts store, Walmart, etc. I'm sure many of you do as well.
Recently, I have found on more than one occasion, that the product has been tampered with. The foil seal on the container has been removed, and is sitting loose inside the cap. That's the first clue. The second clue, is putting my nose to the container opening, the product is odorless. This product normally has a pungent odor. I believe some folks have been buying and using this product, and then filling the jug with tap water to return it for a refund. I have also seen some negative reviews online of BlueDEF platinum where people report getting a CEL immediately after pouring it in, and then having to pay the dealer to drain out the "contaminated" DEF. I suspect those folks inadvertently poured in plain tap water via a fraudulently returned product. If you use this product, please unscrew the cap inside the store before you check out, and confirm that the foil seal is intact!
