Blower switch removal ?

Well last night I tried to get the switch out to test it before buying a new one , Maybe a bad ground? I was blowing the standard 16 amp fuses , I ran a jumper right to the blower and it works but now it brings me back to the switch, I took the radio out and was able to free up the switch after take off the knob and shaft nut and pulling the switch backwards but reaching up thru the radio opening it was still hooked up to this white plastic tubing, I dont know what the tubing is for but I put every thing back as it was getting late. I was wondering do I need to take the whole console out that surrounds everything ? Or are you able to wrestle the switch out after removing the White plastic tubing? What is the best way to get the Blower switch out? Thanks Hans.
