Auto parts houses are sooooo much cheaper...85 190d 2.2l and in need of fuel filters, and a lot more to come..thanks for the comments on the glowplug replacement..I'm going to try taking out the air filter element. Also, any known cd rom tutorials that fully explain cars such as mine>>>DRCS

Auto discount houses are soooooo much cheaper because the parts are soooooooo much less like original.

Stick with FastLane (WorldPak actually) or some other source of OEM parts. Aftermarket parts for MB will almost always get you into trouble unless the aftermarket supplier is an MB supplier.

I've not found OEM parts that much more expensive, especially considering that they actually fit and the quality. I wouldn't use Fram or other aftermarket filters even if I could get them, and you won't be able to find them most places. I can't even get air filters for the Volvo anymore at the local discount places, and after I got a Bosch, I wouldn't anyway -- obviously a MUCH higher quality product, doesn't leak around the edges, cover fits properly.... Stick with OEM, you won't regret it.

welcome to a wonderful world of 190D 2.2l. get ready for ALL filters replacement 2x a year , replacement of break fluid once very two years, replacement of rotors every 50 k miles, failing vacuum everything, overheating (probably your fan switch...), non-working AC, etc. Don't worry, we'll guide you through. We've done it all.

Red face

I tried my local parts house for a valve cover gasket for a 617. Good part #, even had a price listing. Computer said "Part not available".HEHE. Price was $20.00. Ordered one from Fastlane for $6.89, plus $4.50 shipping. Go figure!

Piotr, your the man! I got the response I thought I'd get, and now i've got fastlane, benzben and a few others to check out. Been a (diesel) benz owner for five months, I'm never going back. I just got done reading all the diesel threads and took off down the street for Publix. Ended up helping a guy w/ a 78 240 (D) broke down in the road. Couldn't get it started but great experience and great/classy car to check out. ...DRCS (yelrah)
