Hillbilly;
Had the same problem with my 82 300D. There is a relay (small, square, plug-in can looking thing) behind the instrument cluster, directly in the middle, it controls all the windows. The cluster slid out easy on my car,and, if I recall, I did disconnect the speedo cable(but not the oil pressure sending line) may have unhooked both, can't remember. The relay can't be reached from underneath because I couldn't reach around the metal part it is mounted to. My son diagnosed the relay as "no good, pop". I called Phil at Fastlane(great guy,and a sponsor here) and the part was at my door the next day. I got this information from a search I did on this site which I can't seem to locate now. We're lucky to have such a friendly bunch here who are willing to share. Hope this helps and my information is accurate. If only my memory worked as well as my Benz. If anyone can confirm or deny this information please do. I would hate to send a brother/sister down the wrong road. Good Luck. MattC
Thanks to all who have helped me in the past
