Replaced the plug on my block heater...
My block heater cord was cracked and fraying near the plug and stopped working a week ago so I cut it off a few inches down and replaced the plug with a HD grounded one from Menard's (save big $$$....
![]() I've got her plugged in now and we'll check later to see if she's working alright. The only other option is to buy a new block heater for 45.00. |

you should be able to get just the cord much cheaper.
make sure your extension cord has clean contacts. corrosion causes the heat to build up at the connection

Hello! Nice to hear from you...
Changing the plug worked like a charm, thanks. Well, all in all, Liesl the Diesel is faring alright. We've also had VERY cold weather here but when plugged in she starts up and runs beautifully.
I had one weird episode after running down to Chi-town for a trade show. After running on the highway at around 65-75 mph for several hours we got off the highway only to have her run rough and almost stall while waiting for a stop light. Probably just a little piece of carbon or something because she was fine after that. I'm still not entirely pleased with MPG, though: I seem to be getting only around 23 mpg highway? I'm not sure how to tackle that issue... How are you doing? You're in Rockford, right? |
