Easy start, stahling idle - '85 300TD
so now that it is cold im having a problem getting the car running.

1985 300TD

she turns over right away but unless i keep the gas pedal depressed slightly it will just stahl out. it can't idle on it's own. ill watch the idle needle get to '5' and then when it drops below that it will stahl. is this serious? any ideas?

normally when i can ease off to 5 after a couple minutes i feel the car catch and raise it on it's own. then when i put it in drive, it gets a little lower again

Does your car have an idle adjust knobs, I remember reading that not all cars have them, but they can be installed. If you don't have one and you install one, I think it would help your problem.
