1st cold start of the season
well it got down to about 19 deg f here last night and with the wind chill about 12-13 deg f. brrrrrh!
anyhow did not use the block heater - took 3 preglow's and short cranks sequences and she lit up took it slowly up to operating temp but to get to 'real' operating temp took about 20 miles on the highway 70-80mph. question is, do repeated prelglow-cranks harm the car in any way? otherwise it usually starts first crack in the cold (below freezing temps) if the block heater is plugged in for a couple of hours and then warms up very quickly. any thoughts anyone before tucking into the turkey and stuffing!

I used to do the 'repeated' glo plug trick, but the guys on the forum here explained something.
Apparently, the glo plugs continue to pre-heat after the light goes off. So you can simply delay the start of the car up to 30 seconds or so after the light goes off. I've begun to do this with very good results. Don

My daughter drove home from Troy, New York the other night and today the car started up with the temps in the low 20's, first time, no problems. With 290,000 miles about to show, and going, the car keeps amazing me. Jim

I had problems getting my car started this morning, even though I did several glow cycles. I think my problems are due to bad fuel and needing of an oil change.

It was about 25F last night and my car started on the first crank right when the glow plug light went out. Only problem was my radio antenna was frozen.
