strange power surge
Greetings!
recently noticed, after running full throttle for a bit, if I let OFF the gas there is slight INCREASE in power between 7/8 and 6/8 back off the accelerator. It runns smooth and strong for a split second. Any idea why? Paul

You should never run gas in these old diesels.

It is under a half moon shaped cover that sits on top of crankshaft. Remove the cover and the front seal sits under there.
The worst part of the job is that you will need to remove the radiator and then the front pulley and crankshaft dampener assembly. The seal itself is not hard at all to change out. I found the Haynes manuel had very good photos and a well written description of what to do. Not a bad job. If memeory serves it took me about three hours to complete. You will need a 200 lb torgue wrench to reinstall the endbolt on the crankshaft dampener. I just rented one locally. |
