Ever have trouble with air cleaner to turbo intake fit?
Last night, I attempted a simple project that headed south.
While attempting to inspect the area under the battery tray in my leaking 84 California 300TD, I broke the airfilter mount as I was yanking on the battery. Maybe it was already broke or cracked (this is the second one). Oh well, at least there is no rattling. At any rate, I removed the air filter housing. The connection between the housing and the U-shaped plastic tube that is the turbo intake was really difficult to make. It was kinda cocked sideways before. It still is, and it was impossible to get the housing tub into the seal ring of the U-pipe until I bent the housing opening smaller with some pliers. Something seems wrong. Anyone else ever have problems getting the airfilter housing to mate with the U-pipe? Is there some trick? alec

Whoa yes. I had a real hard time when I replaced the rubber o-ring type gasket that was previously installed crooked. It took me way too much time to get that u tube back on. At least I know it's well sealed from the outside elements.
