WOW!

are you serious!?! where can i find out about this chip? surely there are some drawbacks to using the chip right?

that's great that you monitor this board occasionally. i see your website on a sticker on a VW Jetta i see everyday on 1313 East Main Street. it's a nice midnight blue jetta and the woman keeps it really clean!

Slick!

Slick looking TD
One day my yellow 240D will look that cool. One day.

Upholst. needs fixing. leather is perfect.... (rolls over in mind, swimming in TO DOs)

Anyhow - with a diesel I just can NOT see racing... I mean, you could race slugs, but what's the point? I personally think one of the reasons these cars last SO long is because people DONT abuse them...

Actually the way we and the POs of our cars drive these old, SLUGgish machines would be considered abuse to a gas engine. We let them get into the upper RPM range for extended periods, and we also give them lets of throttle from stops. But for these engines it's good for them. Driving a diesel like it's a gasser is abuse! Also diesels are built a lot heavier duty due to the higher compression ratios and power. So they are built tough naturally.

the axiom for driving a diesel for me has always been,
Drive it like your mad at it.

Here's a quick pic of my TDI Golf

Peyton300TD, as far as the chip for your 300, I'll have to check, but here are the numbers from the one in my car, and my wife's 2000 Jetta TDI.

Stock 90HP 145TQ 48-50MPG
UPed 115HP 190TQ 48-52MPG (depending on driving style).

I also have increased the injector size, so now I estimate it at 140HP 230TQ

As far s drawbacks, I haven't found any yet

Sonnylowe, you won't find a chip for his 300TD. There is no ECM on the old mechanical engines. Power gains are done by turning up the pump. I'm not sure how to do this on a MB diesel.

There was an individual racing an A1 VW Rabbit in one of the email lists that I used to read. He had that thing turned WAY up!! It would haul ass, leaving a THICK cloud of BLACK smoke in the drag.

yea i know about turning the pump, and ive decided not to do that because you sacrifice engine longevity for that. and at this point, longevity is more important than acceleration. i do have plenty good acceleration as is anyhow. grant it, not racing quality but more than necessary. also i think i have a weak cylinder. grr.
