-wheelbase/length differences

My daily driver is a 240D,an 82',and I'm looking at a 300CD and wondering what is the wheelbase difference between the two. Also, what is the actual lenght difference?Do they handle any differently? Are there any other differences? The 300CD is an 85'. Thanks for any and all info. Dave in Boston

The CD has a shorter wheelbase, and it handles alot better. Most of the parts are the same as those used on a 300D, except some trim and body parts. A good example would be weather stripping and window gaskets, they are different and cost more. The seats are also different. Oh, and the CD will be slightly quicker, because they are lighter by a few hundered lbs.

I have them, but I will have to look them up. It might be later today before I get the time to do so.

I have both...prefer the 240...

The CD wheelbase is 109 inches, while the sedan is 120 inches. The coupe has a tendency to fishtail that the sedan doesn't. The coupe has some "quality of life" engineering problems, such as the fact that the rear quarter windows always seem reluctant to work properly (on mine and three other coupes I've looked at), and the sunroof is VERY slow.

The CD is VERY different from most MBs of this era in that a lot of details were not well engineered or thought out...I presume the low volume production of this model didn't make it worthwhile to go back in and fix these problems.

My sunroof is very slow too, even after adjusting the clutch and cleaning and lubing the track. My rear quarter windows don't work that well either, but if I use them enough, they sort of work.

I agree that the rear windows are either slow or do not work on most of the coupes I've seen and on the one I own. Mine work but sloooowly. I've noticed that the rear windows on my w116 and other Benzes I've owned are/were all slower than the fronts.

The sunroof in my coupe is the best one of any of the Benzes I've owned. Works well and quickly.
