Bled brakes, now engine won't shut off!
Well, I Eezibleed the brakes last night without too much a problem then as I took the car around today it wouldn't shut off. So up goes the hood and I used the push stop. Now I spent 3 hours reading the board and testing all the vacumm lines when a noticed the brown line not connected to anything. Finally found that it connect to some switch on the side and hope that would solve my problem. But no, still won't shut off. Can someone please help me otherwise my wife will never drive our 300D again? Thanks.

That brown line probably connects to the shut off diaphragm that is on the very back of the injection pump. The diaphragm is in front of the oil filter housing. You should see a nipple there.

Now that I reconnected that line, why doesn't the engine turn off with the key? Do these shut off valve/diaphram go bad?

The shut off diaphram can go bad but the coincidence that this happened right after you bled your brakes makes it sound to me like you still have a loose vacuum line. There should be no unconnected vacuum lines in the engine compartment. (There is, however, at least one line under the dash that is not connected to anything which is normal.) Trace the vacuum lines that run to and from the ignition switch and you'll likely find your problem.

Is this under the dash or in the engine compartment? Is there any vacumm lines behibd the instruemnt panel that I have to look at? I removed it last week to brighten the dash lights. Many thanks. |

My recollection is that there are two vacuum lines that run through the firewall and to the ignition switch. These are the ones you want to check. I doubt you disconnected them messing with the instruments. More likely a line may have been pulled from in the engine compartment. You can access the lines under the dash from behind the kick panel.
