Performance Products SUCKS!!!

Okay, heres the deal. I needed to rent a balljoint press so I figured I would save some time and get the balljoints, two trim pieces and a rear window seal all from PP at the same time, ordered on 4/8.

Order arrived (2) 4/16-17, and a trim piece was damaged. 1st call to PP: Put on hold for 25+minutes, then line went dead. Called again, hold for 10 minutes, spoke to supervisor. PP said replacement would ship immediately, UPS would pick up part (they did).

4/24, rental balljoint press returned/shipped to PP

4/26, No replacement part, 2nd call to PP, on hold for 12 minutes. PP informs me part was never shipped, one will go out immediately.

5/1, UPS tracking confirms PP received rental press.

5/5 Blistering email to PP with my complaints. No response as of 5/8.

5/7, 3rd call to PP, no holding this time. PP informs me that someone "denied" receipt of the new/replacement trim piece at my address. I replied thats complete BS as I operate a small biz out of my house and know the UPS guy on a first name basis! They are here every day! Fine they will ship another. What about the balljoint press? PP received it on 5/1, its 5/7 and no credit on my CC. Whats the deal? Standard "5 biz days" to process answer, blah, blah, blah.

I am beginning to wonder if I will ever see the replacement part or the other piece that was on backorder that I haven't mentioned yet. Every time I talk to these morons they are condescending and rude. I am waiting one more week and then I am going to call the CC company and dispute the charges. PP has about the worst customer service I have experienced in a while. I hope Fastlane starts renting tools soon. I have never had a problem with them. PP will never get another dollar from me. RT

I am sorry to hear of the problems you have had with them.... sounds like they think they can get by without repeat customers...
However, their line drawings in their catalog are very helpful for seeing how things are put together....
I hope you send a nice letter, keeping to the facts, ( LOL ) and suggesting they are shooting themselves in the foot...

I have had several expereinces mostly positive with PP.

I am lucky enough to drive to their location to buy parts. In my case, I call, order the parts and have them at will call. Very professional and very pleasant.

I do however, have an open order on some items that were backordered and 2 days has turned into 2 weeks. They haven't called me and I haven't called them.

Sorry about your expereince, when you have one of those it isn't easy to try the same vendor again.

Speak to Mel:

Do send a letter. Hope you got the name of the person you spoke with.
Next time ask to speak to Mel. He owns the place. But does have at least forty or fifty employes.
Good luck, tell him you have posted this problem on a Board. And if you can't resolve this issue you will also inform Mercedes Star Magazine. They advertise in it. He knows who his customer base is.
Good luck.

PP is PP

The only part I would buy from PP is the gasket for the power steering pump. They have a great rubber gasket that doesn't leak like the paper ones do. Their catalog is great but aside from that they suck. I stopped buying from them 4 years ago when their aftermarket parts kept failing (tie rod ends, vacuum pump kits, valve cover gaskets, console switches all broke or leaked within 6 months). And now days their prices are so high you can find better quality for 30 percent less on the web. Even when they send me a 15% off coupon I find I can beat it at other web addresses. Just 2 cents worth.

performance

I had a very similar experience and had to go to cc to get refund. Also had other no problem orders. I still use them sometimes as I have not found any other vendor as inexpensive for same part. Can someone post or e-mail me the discount source they found less than pp?
Thanks

JD

I just placed an order with them and found that they had raised their prices on several items a considerable amount. They do have a price guarantee mentioned in one of their catalogs though, and if I order from them again I think I'll do my price research first. I agree with Leatherman...they have a nice catalog of exploded parts diagrams. RWThomas should sent a link to this thread to them after it "cooks" awhile..."nationwide" bad publicity should get their attention !

I stopped ordering stuff from Performance Products after the last order I had. I ordered a bunch of parts, and also ordered some from FastLane at the same time. I got the parts from FastLane in 3 days, it took 5+ days for PP. The prices also keep going up, and when I order parts online. They also never respond to the emails I send them. Phil answers my emails in a matter of minutes...

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE.

Virtually every order from PP is missing a part (on forever backorder), is the wrong part (most common), or includes an extra part (I have a couple).

While the catalogs are great and have good (ex-IMPCO) drawings, the staff has no idea what they are looking at. Further, the website is terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Order from fastlane, the parts are right, the prices are right and the delivery is on time.

I have no relation with fastlane, this is just feedback from a customer.

Parts houses

Are Fastlane and Imported Car Parts one in the same? After you get past the login stuff and select your car their screens are exactly the same, even the in-house part numbers. Only difference is Imported is about 15% less.

I've been waiting two weeks now for an order from them. I keep getting emails with estimated receiving dates and then two days later another email with later dates. I'm very unimpressed, anything from Fastlane is there virtually the next day.

I'll never bother with PP again.

Their drawings are awful nice, but they are way overpriced, and I've gotten the wrong part a time or two. I never had any problem sending it back though, or excessive time in shipment. I may order from them if the 'sale' can get the price down to something reasonable and I can't find whatever it is somewhere else.

MBwerker, thanks for the info on the P/S gasket, good to know. Many online parts places use the same online setup, I don't know what the deal with that is but they are indeed different.
