190DT on vegoil
This is my first post so I should introduce myself. Dana Linscott..from Minnesota. I design and install simple vegoil conversions for diesels. That's right...I run diesels on waste fryer oil. It smells like a barbeque..chicken one day..pork the next. It is simpler than it sounds and my fuel costs around a dime a gallon.
Anyway.... I found my dream car recently...except for the mileage(190K)...and cracked dash, and myriad of other small things to fix. A 190DT! When I drove one a few months ago I knew I had to have one. Downright sporty for a diesel! The main problem is the transmission will not shift to OD and slips in second when cold. I suspect it is time for a rebuild. What should I expect this to cost at an independant transmission shop? I can do the rest of the work myself but I wonder also if there are some good parts suppliers on the internet that anyone can recommend. I have saved up to half on my SAAB parts by not going to the dealer...and it is quicker since the nearest dealer is over 2 hours away. I appreciate any help you can give me here...and am happy to answer any questions you may have as well. Thanks, Dana ![]() |
