Gilly, Dr. Diesel, ect....Help please.
extensive service done at 52K, including oil change , fuel filters, air filters change which had been done only 5K previously. I had the car in the shop to replace MAS, so I just had the oil and filters changed for convenience before FSS recommended.
car now has 55K. took a 750 mi round-trip this weekend. yesterday, the "Service Engine in 1100 mi." message came on upon startup. 50 mi. later the "Service Engine in 1000 mi" message came on upon startup. I understand this message is specific to oil change/condition.
This morning, I got no "Service Engine" message upon startup. I keep up with service intervals independant of FSS for obvious reasons. my service receipts always indicate that my indi 'resets' the FSS and checks and clears all other codes.
Any ideas?
I have called my indi, and he wants to scan it with his new $12K scanner and charge me I am sure. However, he says, "Maybe I forgot to reset the FSS." I won't let him charge me to scan if if he finds out he didn't reset the FSS, but he may find something else that could cause this message or message inconsistency.
