K&N filter .. unfair bad rap
I read a post where some folk sorta interpreted a study of filters to mean K&N where not that good. I made the same mistake at first when I read the study. I've learned better since. I'm bringing my responce out here to the main floor so other can read it.
Basically the study said a "new" K&N filter was not very effective when it comes to cleaning for particles... but was good for improved air intake and improve in power curve etc. well actually.. that study just plan sucked. pardon the pun... ![]() It was done by the Deseart Research Institure in Reno NV. The reason it sucked is they assume the filter worked at its peak when new out of the box. This is FARRRRRRRR from the truth. Many filters that are used in various industrys are designed to work at their peak when DIRTY. K&N makes this same claim. It makes since when you understand that part of the idea behind the filters construction is to use the accumulated crud stuck to the filter to take on part of the job of ..... filtration. The crud on the filter gets other crud in the air to stick to it instead of going thru the filter and on into the intake. So u see... the study really did just plain SUCK ![]() (no financial intrest in K&N)
