87 300D rear subframe bushings

I was looking under the car the other day for a bad link (thrust link on the passenger side has a bad bushing) and found that the diff mount bushings are bad and that the subframe mounts are flat.

Any advice on replacing these? I suspect I'll also have to do the 300TE soon too.

Thanks!

Peter

Replacing the thrust link should be straight forward for you as long as you have a floorjack for getting everything in position.

The differential mount bushings require a puller. You will need to raise the car and put a floor jack under the diff. Remove the front bolt and bushings, remove the two bolts for the rear and lower the diff enough to get a puller in. Don't just throw the new bushing in there, it must go in the correct position. Look over the old ones to determine how they are positioned.

My brother in law made a puller, so I used his. I expect that the parts shop here has them available for sale.

Good luck,

hi,

Are you familiar with (the now famous ..) www.pindelski.com, site?
the rear differential mount bushing replacement , is step by step Photo documented.Look in the Transmission section.
Most accurate for 126 cars, but a great refrence for other bodies as well.
(I wish there were photographs for the rear subframe bushing R/R as well....)
I hope this helps.

good luck
