I have an easy one for you. What is my 82 turbo diesel trying to tell me when the high beam light stays on?? Also, when I am on the road and i brake my car goes to the right, could it be just an allignment problem or should I start saving up for something else? Brake lines?? Thanks.

If car pulls to the right on braking, you might have frozen caliper on the left front that just aint grabbin. Something lots of people neglect is flushing the entire hydraulic system with fresh DOT4 fluid... starting with the brake line furthest from the master cylinder.
Havent heard of highbeams working overtime, but multi-switch on steering column is easy to disassemble for checking electrical contacts. What happens when you flash the highbeams by tapping the lever towards you?? Last edited by 300SDog; 07-03-2003 at 04:48 AM. |

Like 240DieselDog said you could have a frozen caliper but you could also have a bad hose. they go bad on the inside so if you find the frozen caliper disconnect the hose and check to see if fluid is getting through before you remove the caliper.

My experience with pulling when braking usually points to the caliper on the same side it pulls to, i.e. it would be your right caliper and not your left if you're pulling to the right.
Do your headlights remain on high beam when the indicator remains lit? - if so it could be the switch itself.

Hi bjcsc:
240DieselDog is saying what you are saying, If it pulls on right, the right caliper might be locked or the left caliper might not be grabing. The end result will be the same i.e. pulling on right. Correct me if I am wrong. Just a clarification. MVK

What's happening is that my high-beams do not come on at all but my dash indicates that they are already on- even if the high-beam lever is pulled towards me, So I can't get them to turn on and can't get my indicator to turn off. Thx for the replies

I'm not entirely certain, but I'm pretty sure that means your car is haunted.
