Shippping a car....
Guys, after totaling my 1985 300SD I have decided to purchase Turbodiesel's 1987 300SDL.
I'd rather buy his car with the records hje has than to buy someone else. The car appears to be in great shape. I believe the mileage is irrelevant. I have a 1993 Ford E-150 straight 6 that has about 250,000 that I have maintained since new and it runs great, so 318,000 hwy miles with that maintenance on a diesel benz is not worrying me. I live in Miami and need to get it shipped down. The least expensive quote I have received is 550.00 Does anyne know of another shipper I can use to save some $$$, or is that a good deal? I'd like to do it within the next 10 days. Thanks |

It would probably be helpful to let people know that Turbodiesel is in NJ. $550 sounds like a great deal to me, although if I were you I'd fly up there and drive it down. It would be a good opportunity to meet another forum member and an excellent start to your relationship with your new car. Bring some extra money so you can buy "admission" to the beach when you're there!

Congratulations on your purchase!
Here is a directory of car shippers, you can get a few quotes. When I inquired about shipping, the cheapest was by rail. But I was also shipping over the border, so there were few that were willing to do that. (just scroll up to get to the US section)

plantman - sheesh it would only cost ya about 60 bux in diesel fuel to get that car from nj-miami. also a great way to get to know it some, if you can spare the time.
you can fly one way on jetblue without a penalty for not buying a roundtrip ticket.

Yes it would be under $100.00 for fuel plus another $100.00 in food, drinks, tolls etc.......
My concern is I would be away from my business for a couple of days and that is another loss that I couldn't just put into numbers. We'll see, maybe I could do it this coming long weekend. Thanks |
