Automatic altitude adjuster
My 87 300td runs a lot better at lower altitude ,we live at 8200 feet and it smokes a lot in the morning and also runs hotter than I would like to see. Also it runs rough when it is first started cold.My wife recently drove the car to Ohio and it ran cooler at lower altitude and did not smoke as much in the morning.I was wondering if anyone knows about this altitude adjuster and if it might be my problem. Thanks Mike

The altitude adjuster is called the ALDA. Do a search of the site, punch in alda, and you'll have all the reading material you possibly could want. You may want to click the option to "Search titles only" to cut down the number a little bit. IF you still have a question after all that, let us know.

A number of people have noticed that their vehicles run rougher when cold at altitude. I doubt this will change after an alda adjustment. Mine runs rough at 5200' when cold but not at sea level. It does not smoke at altitude when cold.
