Headrest Adjusting Mechanism
Well, I just opened up the seat in my 87 300D to try and fix the headrest and it appears the new part doesn't have enough "teeth" to allow the headrest to go all of the way down. Also, the old "broken" part is white in color and the "new" one is black. Does anyone have any ideas here?
Are the headrests NOT supposed to go all of the way in with the new guides? Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by all the way down. I think there should be an air gap between the headreast and the seatback when the headrest is all the way down in the vertical position so you can tilt it to the forward position. Then the headrest will touch the seatback. At least that's the way it is in my cars.
