Wow, this just gets better and better! The guy bought 83 items all under $2 before he sold anything. And he calls himself Triple Crown Motors. Hmmm, what does a car dealer need with a bunch of recipes? Something else I just noticed wrong with the TD is that the wheels are too perfect. They've just been given a cheap respray, which will be peeling in a month. I know, I've done it.

He's currently got 6 cars for sale, all in private auctions. So, let's have some fun. Here's one of his other auctions: 420SEL Anybody notice anything wrong with this one? I'll start by pointing out the cheaply resprayed wheels and the wood veneer cracked all to heck.

Check out the Porsche 930 "Its a TURBO". I had a 2002 BMW painted black like that once cost me about $600 for the paint job. Looked just like that paint job. I saw a very nice 930 a while back at AJ USA here in San Diego. IIRC it was around $25kand it did NOT have issues like a broken speedo with TMU title.

The 420 has a dealer plate from someplace on it in the pictures. Hole in the lower grille. Tow hook?

His cars are all detailed to the hilt and the write ups are pretty professional. This guy is slick. Bears watching. Couple cars are closing tomorrow. Could be a bit of fun.

I'm thinking of salvage cars crossing some state lines to wash titles etc. Cheap repaint or super detail with new wheel paint and a "spray job" on the interior to make it look fresh. Not much added cost. Add a set of 1/2 used tires so what you can barely see of the tires looks decent and pop it up on the Bay.

How can you tell if a car has one of those "cheap" paint jobs? What kind of things do you look for? Just curious - I don't know much about paint jobs and would like to keep from getting "burned" in the future.

Thanks,

Scott

One of the things I look @ is trim... if they didn't bother to take off the trim... that's one way I judge it.

Also, look in the door jams, etc. You can just kinda tell.

--But for me, I look for lines around the trim and orange-peel looking... other folks here know better.

I think you guys are right about the interior being dyed. The back carpet is faded to the unique "palomino pink" but there is no sign of it on either of the front seats. My car has it about equally faded both places. Also, although it's hard to tell on the photo, on the closeup of the wheel it sure looks like the lead balancing weight is painted the EXACT same color as the wheel which supports the quickie respray theory. Still, it may not be that bad a car at the right price. Buying it on Ebay with this seller however is probably a bad idea. I'm always suspicious of private auctions. If completely legit, this would be a somewhat unique car and the seller shouldn't be that worried about another seller trying to steal his buyer. It wouldn't surprise me if the seller was trying to bid it up and got caught as the highest bidder.

I agree... a seller with a truly exceptional vehicle has nothing to fear and doesn't need a private auction, because his car is better than whatever they may be offered. And he wouldn't have anything to hide. I still don't like them (PA's) at all.

Couldn't help but notice that in the 420's list of "options" he plainly lists burlwood, however in the following paragraph he describes it as zebrano. Also, that Chevy Roadside Assistance sticker on the drivers door really jumped out at me.
