road damage - w124 dont let this happen to you

driving to the airport last night, following a guy too close donw an exit ramp and his back wheel threw a piece of metal at me. it was a long strip, maybe angled aluminum. anyway, it got me pretty good, im pretty bummed out.

looks like the part behind the black bumper strip needs replaced. not on fastlane but performance products had the 'bumper assembly' for $250, not really sure what that includes. wondering if you guys know or know of a better price. gunna have helmut look at it tomorrow see what his estimate is.

thanks, heres the pics.

Phil can get parts that are not listed on Fastlane - he has multiple sources. I know, he just ordered some for me today. Click on the Fastlane link and call the phone number.

You're lucky it didn't go through your windshield and kill you. That happened to someone around here a few years ago. A BMW driver was killed after a square piece of metal was kicked up by a tire of a car and it went through the windshield and hit the drive in the head.

I've heard of one along the lines of "Lone Star Imports" somewhere on Harwin on the south west side, and I think I saw a place where they have a junk yard or else it was a repair shop with some benzes (W126, W123, newer benzes). It's on N.Shepard Dr., between where W. Montgomery Rd. splits from N. Shepard and the W. Little York intersection. That description is vague, but it's kinda hard to remember a place you were passing at 50 mph.

naw, that would really have pissed me off, just the bumper, everything else is fine thankfully.

i had another question, is this plastic bumper part painted? if so, are they all painted the same color? someone told me that if i got a new one id have to get it painted, so that would make getting an old one even more advantageous.
