Quick Oil Pressure Question.

I did a search -- found stuff for gassers... but not diesel...

What should the guage read on my 300TD @ idle. when under power, it pins... but @ idle sometimes it read 1.75 and other times it is almost 3.

What is a "comfortable" reading?

Those readings are fine. As long as it pegs when above idle, you're good to go. Pressure at idle will drop a little as the engine warms up.

Too bad you weren't sitting around closer to NJ -- I have a whole list of things you can do to the car! -- and if you finish early with the car, the lawn looks like hell!

On the low side I think the rule is that you are ok if you have 'one bar' or higher at idle.

On a hot day my idle pressure will sit at just under 2, about 2.75 I guess
On a cold day it'll stay just above 3.0
(That's on an engine with 40k miles on it)
