Got the car back today!!! misc issues questions

I'll get some before and after shots posted shortly, but for right now I have a couple questions.

The first has to do with the trunk lid not holding itself open.

They replaced...well, MANY things back there including the deck lid. He said they used the original springs during the transplant. Problem is, the deck lid doesn't want to hold itself open now.....which is rather annoying. He said they couldn't figure out how to adjust anything to change the behavior.

So...IS there some way to adjust the springs or the behavior of the deck lid?

The other issue is non-wreck related:

For as long as I've had the car, the passenger's side seat has had issues with not wanting to recline forwards....it's intermeittent. I've checked the switch and it appears to be functional.

But.....now that I have the car back, the driver's side is doing the same thing and the seat is currently stuck in a much more reclined position than I like.
Reclining backwards still works fine.

What are the most likely areas of breakdown when deealing with seat position problems? The motors? the switches? the wiring?

....and yes, I've searched the forums :p
