311,500 miles on my daily driver 1980 W116 300SD on the original engine. The original transmission went out a couple years ago (aged internal seals causing low pressure) and was replaced with a used one. I'm taking it on a 3,000 mile trip this week and will earn my next mileage badge (500,000km--already have my 250,000km badge) when I return.

463,000! Everything works and everything needs work! I can't wait till I move this spring so I can give her the garage she deserves! Right now I live in an apartment complex that gets mad if you pop your hood in the parking lot so needless to say I don't often get the chance to address the 1001 issues that keep popping up.

I just rolled over 288888 miles yestdrday in my '78 300D on my drive from Albuquerque, NM up to Vancouver, WA.
I liked the number so I thought I'd take a photo. http://gallery.leica-users.org/d/337...201_085747.jpg Phil Forrest |

Unless you have extensive and complete records all the way back, its pretty hard to know what these cars actually have. See my thread about an 83 SD I owned, it only read 130K but everything was worn out. Ive seen others with over 500K that were like new.
In the early 90's, vehicle computers began storing recorded mileage. At about the same time, Car Fax started to become popular. Those two things combined to pretty much put an end to odometer rollbacks. Prior to that time however, rollbacks were virtually an epidemic, and the subject of many undercover sting and news reports. Rolling a high mileage car back to low mileage could earn a dealership thousands of dollars, and on a car like an 80's model Mercedes, it could be worth 10's of thousands. The odometer of any older car then, without extensive and complete records to support it, is meaningless. When we look at cars like Doktor Berts, which has all those extensive records, thats likely a more honest example of what many of these cars really have. In fact, its been argued that lack of records almost guarantees the odo was rolled back. I always get a hoot reading Ebay ads for muscle cars, and you see the mileages. Since the odo's only went to 99,999, then rolled over, its totally unknown how many miles any of those old cars have. Thats why its better to disregard it and go by condition only. |
My 99 E300 Turbo Diesel has 364,000 - been maintained meticulously.
I don't add oil between changes and it leaks nothing. All original engine, tranny rebuilt at 265,000...an amazing machine...just went from NC to Savannah and back - got 33mpg, leading traffic in the left lane, A/C compressor off and as always, using a cetane boost fuel additive. |
Just rolled 200,000 miles in my '98 E300. No issues other than the CAT's guts letting loose. Just replaced all 6 glow plugs without much issue.

313,000 and ready for the 500km badge!!!!

The 85 300SD from original owner ( my Dad) Original, engine, tranny, rear diff.
214,835 miles. I need to go through the 3 inch thick file to see if the timing chain has been replaced though. It's about that time. Alan |
266,700 on the '86 300sdl...however, the motor is much less (around 170k) since it was replaced w/a crate motor in '98 when the PO cracked the pan.
Around 210k on the '80 euro 300d 4 speed. Can't remember the mileage on the '78 300cd (wife's weekend car) as I haven't driven it in a few weeks, but I believe its around 279k now. |
268,000 miles. Bought her at 240,000.

Almost 261K

1979 300SD ... not quite 129,000 miles.

As of today 276890 on my 93 and 159836 on the 98

270,000 on my '80 240D. The engine seems strong enough but automatic transmission is flaring when cold. It must have been replaced at some point though because it looks pretty clean and shifts alright for the age. For $600 you can't find a better first car :D
|
250,000, bought it with 170k. Engine runs great, tranny shifts well, paint is decent, most everything works.
I recently did the ip o-rings and plastic fuel lines, battery and new tires. I have some nagging little things to fix like the antenna, climate control lights, exhaust tip, alignment wasn't done right, a couple rust spots etc... Probably needs injectors rebuilt. I haven't needed to change glow plugs, starts faster than a gasser no matter how cold it is! I use it several times a day and it has been rock solid. Love it! |
