kinds of glow plugs

Peter and I were discussing Cliff's problem over on the Tech Help forum.

77 300 D glow plug head scratcher

Would someone who has done the conversion or who has a lot of experience with series and parallel glow plugs comment on this question of whether it is possible to have pin type plugs wired in series????
